This is really a beautiful idea: use layers of blue highlighter, red pen, and black pen to build up a sketch quickly. When you’re done, you have a blueprint of the drawing—you can see step by step how it was made. Art Spiegelman does this a lot in his sketchbooks when he’s working up pictures: he uses different pen colors to slowly build his compositions.
