My Watching Year, 2010

10 great movies I watched this year:

Winter’s BoneBest thing I saw all year. I actually cared what happened. Remember how movies can do that?
Toy Story 3Went to see this alone in a tiny theater in Estes Park, CO full of parents and kids. And yes, I cried.
Big Night“Who are these people in America?” Terrific movie. (on Netflix Watch Instantly)
In The LoopHilarious.
Grey GardensEndlessly quotable. (Netflix Watch Instantly)
Firefly (The Complete Series) + SerenityNot technically a movie, but you can sort of watch it all in one go like one. An excellent way to blow a weekend. (Netflix Watch Instantly)
TysonI probably recommended this more than any other movie this year, just because I was so surprised how much I liked it.
Lovers of HateThis is my buddy Bryan Poyser’s movie. I saw a rough cut, and then I saw it premiere at SXSW. I’m biased, sure, but he also got nominated for a Spirit award for it, so add it to your Netflix queue.
American MovieSo great. I’m only a decade late to this one…
The T.A.M.I. ShowThis goes here almost solely for the James Brown performance.
