The Rabbi’s Cat

Hooray! Joann Sfar's animated adaptation of his terrific book The Rabbi’s Cat hits NY theaters this week. (National release next month.) The animation looks beautiful.

Joann Sfar’s Tokyo Sketchbook

I found a bunch of Joann Sfar sketchbooks at the National Library in Montreal…they’re absolutely fantastic — so loose and fast! The guy is a drawing machine.

Sadly, they’re really expensive — 20 euros ($40) a piece on amazon.

Joann Sfar draws while François Morel reads from Le Petit Prince, accompanied by musicians

This is a really fantastic idea for a reading — somebody reads while somebody draws. I have been racking my brains for how we might do an interesting reading for the Newspaper Blackout Poems book. It seems like the best readings get elevated into some kind of performance…
