Great piece that shows how genius doesn’t come out of nowhere and just how many elements have to come together and how much wheeling and dealing has to go down to make it happen. Harvey Keitel:
“There’s great talent out there, and they should be seen and heard. We don’t have to keep repeating the same movies and sequels, ad infinitum. An example like Quentin should be a call to arms. Of course, people say, ‘Oh, so-and-so would have made it anyway.’ That’s almost like saying the world is fair, and the cream will rise to the top. That’s bullshit.”

Not unlike Quentin Tarantino’s rant about “Top Gun” — once you hear it, you’ll never see the movie the same way again.
The cast and crew of Inglourious Basterds say hello to Quentin Tarantino’s editor Sally Menke. The “Hi Sally” reels sometimes appear as extras on Tarantino’s DVD releases.
Menke died tragically at 56 Tuesday morning.
Here’s the reel for Death Proof.
My favorite Tarantino movie, and the Tarantino movie hardly anyone has seen. Made from Elmore Leonard’s Rum Punch. Amazing soundtrack. (You can get it on vinyl for $8!) Great cast. Chicks with guns! You must see this.

Great example of how, sometimes, the thing you’re not taking seriously is exactly what you should be doing. You don’t always know what you’re best at or what you really love doing — especially at the beginning. Leaving an opening allows evolution to happen.
