One of my very favorite drawers, Warren Craghead, caricatures misogynists. Awesome.
Warren Craghead’s drawings + pencils
I think line for line Warren Craghead (@wcraghead on Twitter and Instagram) is drawing some of my favorite drawings right now.
From his interview with the Comics Journal:
I have very little time to draw between my day job and my family and I think that has made my work move more towards being integrated into my life more. I’ll draw a lot while doing other things (eating, playing with kids, driving) and that ends up being used in work I make.
I tweeted that I’d love to know what he uses to get such a variety of line quality and he tweeted back the pencils in his pocket and this note: “It’s all pencils, soft, hard, big , small. Plus drawing surfaces, soft, hard… Lot’s of erasing and smearing too.”
What I see in his work is an eye really looking, and a hand really exploring, and a family man stealing whatever time to draw that he can (he draws a lot while watching TV—stuff like news reports and even Gossip Girl). Quite the inspiration. Check him out.
Warren Craghead has released a cool printable booklet of his Egypt drawings. (He’s one of my favorite people to follow on instagram: @wcraghead)
